1. The adhesion strength of the ash content in electrode paste is poor, and the adhesion strength is even worse in areas with concentrated ash content. This area consumes quickly and is prone to mechanical strain and hard fracture. Therefore, the ash content should be maintained at an index of ≤ 3.


2. If the softening point of the electrode paste is low, the coking value after sintering is low, and the motor strength is also poor, it is easy to cause electrode accidents.


3. A high electrical resistivity of the electrode paste indicates a low degree of graphitization, poor conductivity, and poor oxidation resistance of the electrode. The electrode with strong rigidity after calcination is also prone to breakage.


The main components of electrode paste are solid carbon materials and binders. Solid carbon materials include electrocoaked coal, petroleum coke, etc., and binders are generally asphalt


The electrode paste can withstand high temperatures and has a low coefficient of thermal expansion. Having a relatively small resistance coefficient can reduce the loss of electrical energy. Having a smaller porosity can slow down the oxidation of the heated electrode. High mechanical strength is necessary to prevent electrode breakage due to mechanical and electrical loads.
